Head Coach Lee Willing
Coach Lee is in his 20th year of
coaching swimming. He comes from San Antonio where he was an All-State Swimmer
at Central catholic High School. After a short stint swimming at Henderson
State University, Coach Lee returned to San Antonio and received his BA in
Political Science at Our Lady of the Lake University and began his coaching
career.
Through the years Coach
Lee has enjoyed success at all levels from Summer League to College coaching
numerous Texas Age Group Champions, National Top 16 swimmers, High School
All-Americans, NCAA Qualifiers, US Open and USA Swimming Junior and Senior
National Qualifiers. In fact, several of Coach Lee's former swimmers are now
coaches themselves coaching at the High School and Club levels.
Coach Lee has earned
several awards over the years including High School District Coach of the Year
(12x), Regional Coach of the Year (3x) and South Texas Open Water Coach of the
Year.
Coach Lee continues to be
involved in the leadership of our sport. He currently is on the Manager's List
for USA Swimming's National Team program and sits as a member of the National
Diversity Committee. He is a former South Texas LSC Board Member and in 2002
was named an ASCA Fellow. He has also been the Head Coach of both South Texas
and Montana Zone Teams and has been an assistant at several LSC and Zone
Training Camps.
Coach Lee is currently a
teacher and is also the Head Swimming and Diving Coach at LBJ High School here
in Austin.
